Certificate level PM1 Professional
With the PM1 Professional certificate level, your basic technical and methodological expertise in strategic product management work is put to the test.
The basis for the PM1 Professional certificate level is participation in the ‘PM1 Boot Camp (Open/Inhouse)’ or the in-house training courses ‘Product Management Essentials’ and ‘The Product Business Plan’. In order to receive the PM1 Professional certificate, participants must also demonstrate the following achievements:
Create a detailed product business plan according to the PM1 framework present this to a panel of experts.
Finally, an online test must be taken to test your knowledge of product management.

Certificate level PM1 Master
To achieve the PM1 Master certificate level, at least two of the six mastering training modules are required. In addition to the required training modules, there are various ways to provide proof of performance:
PM1-Professional certificate level: by completing the PM1-Professional certificate level, you demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of product management.
Written proof of alternative qualification programme, plus assessment interview with PM1 experts: You can complete an alternative qualification programme and prove your qualification in an interview with PM1 experts.
PM1 Expert online test: You can demonstrate your knowledge and skills in product management by taking the PM1 Expert online test.
Expert review of your own PM project: You can submit your own product management project and have it assessed by experts to demonstrate your skills in practical application.

Certificate level PM1 Leader
By participating in the PM1 Leader Camp, you lay the foundation for your PM1 Leader Certificate qualification. Afterwards, you have several options for providing proof of performance for the PM1 Leader certificate:
PM1 Master certificate level: The direct completion of the PM1 Master certificate level through successful participation in all required training courses and examinations.
Written proof of alternative qualification programme, plus assessment interview with PM1 experts: You can complete an alternative qualification programme that is recognised by PM1. You will then have an assessment interview with PM1 experts to validate your qualification.
PM1 Leader online test: An online test that checks your comprehensive knowledge of product management and your ability to handle leadership tasks.
Expert review of a PM Leader presentation: You present a product management project you have developed to experts. The presentation will be evaluated in detail to assess your product management leadership skills.

The basis of our product manager training and certification: the PM1 competency model
The PM1 training programme is systematically based on the PM1 Product Manager Competence Model. In order for a product manager to successfully fulfil their role as an entrepreneur for the product, they must qualify in four areas of competence. Product managers who have previously worked in R&D, sales or service usually already have extensive product knowledge.
Gradual development of your product management skills
The first step is to systematically expand professional expertise in the direction of market knowledge and to develop methodological expertise for effective and efficient product management work. These two skills are absolutely essential, but product market success requires even more: the ability to effectively present the planned project to decision-makers and stakeholders (presentation skills) and the ability to involve, activate and inspire the entire organisation through lateral leadership.
In our training sessions, product managers receive a questionnaire for self-assessment and external assessment of their areas of expertise and a development plan on how they want to expand their competences over the next 3-12 months. Because we believe that successful product managers do not leave their development to chance, but demonstrate entrepreneurship here too.
Quality level of our PM1 certificate programme
For each PM1 certificate level, specific evaluation criteria are defined in addition to the above-mentioned requirements, which are then checked using the online tests, reviews and presentations listed. Only if all evaluation criteria are sufficiently fulfilled will the participant receive the corresponding certificate. This procedure ensures the high level of quality and thus the validity of our PM1 certificate programme. If the participant does not achieve the qualification level, he or she has the opportunity to repeat the assessment after a period of three months. Product managers who have already attended training programmes from other providers and wish to obtain a PM1 certificate on this basis must also attend a personal assessment interview with a PM1 expert.
Registration for product manager certification
Registration for the PM1 certificate programme is independent of registration for a training course. In order to register for a specific PM1 certificate level, you must first provide evidence of the above-mentioned participation in training courses or the qualification achieved. In order to successfully complete the respective PM1 certificate level, the respective online tests, reviews and presentations must then be completed and passed; the online tests can be completed at any time after registration, but must then be completed within a specified time.
For the PM1-Professional and PM1-Master reviews, please send your work sample to PM1 in advance. The subsequent review meeting lasts approximately one hour and takes place via web conference on fixed dates four times a year. You will receive the available date options when you register and then make a binding decision in favour of a date. The PM Leader presentation lasts two hours and takes place in person and by individual appointment in Munich, Nuremberg or Düsseldorf. The same applies to the personal assessment interviews with a PM1 expert.
